Christmas Budgeting. Does this ring a bell for you? Or may be it strikes a chord.
Well in our home it has struck a chord. I have 3 children as you may know and they are now all teenagers. Buying for teenagers is expensive. Long gone are the Polly Pockets and the mini sticks. The requests are now I Phones and I Pads along with Golf Clubs and flights to Florida. I don’t know why they just didn’t add a Porsche to the list.
So what am I doing about it? I gave each child a budget. I told them the amount and said when it is gone it is gone. They weren’t too happy about it but I am going to stick to this budget. I feel that budgeting for Christmas is very important and though it may ruin a bit of the surprise, I am hoping in return we will be able to enjoy each other and our family and celebrate the real reason for Christmas, not the commercial reason.
