“Rest when you’re weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work.” ~Ralph Marston
Studies have proven time and time again that we, the working class, are NOT taking our allocated vacation time and for many of us that are we are actually working even harder to take that vacation time. Subsequent studies are now showing that many of us are taking our vacations one day at a time rather than in one week or two week blocks. We need to change this trend, especially if we want to stay healthy in mind, body and spirit.
How many of you wake up in a good mood on a Saturday vs. how many of you wake up in a good mood on a Monday? I bet the numbers vary hugely. Work can be very, very stressful and our bodies need a break from that stress. People who do not take vacations are at higher risk from health related illnesses caused by stress, such as heart attacks, mental illness and migraines.
Take your vacations and please consider taking a minimum of one – one week block each and every year. Your body, your mind and your spirit will thank you.
